The Lavoisier Lectures - Department of Chemistry, University Paris Diderot - November 2011 Edition - focused on atmospheric science/ aerosols with a word expert in the field : John H. SEINFELD, the Louis E. Nohl Professor & Professor of Chemical Engineering at California Institute of Technology in Pasadena (Caltech, USA). During his 4-day stay, the distinguished Lavoisier lecturer 2011 gave two conferences : “Aerosols and Climate” on Nov. 23, a general interest lecture with insights on global warming, and “Organic atmospheric aerosols” on Nov. 24, a specialized talk including recent prospects.

More about John H. SEINFELD

In 1982, at age 39, Seinfeld was the youngest person ever elected to the National Academy of Engineering. He is also a fellow of the National Academy of Arts and Sciences, and has published more than 550 papers and four critically acclaimed books, including the basic worldwide textbook on air pollution, Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics of Air Pollution.

He has received numerous national and international awards and honors and served on or chaired many important national and professional commissions focusing on various air quality research challenges.
